Indirect Fossil Evidence for Earliest Life

Indirect evidence for early life comes from rocks found in the Isua Region in Western Greenland, dated at 3800 million years. These rocks contain graphite with carbon isotopic (12C/13C ) ratios similar to those of living matter, although this ratio might be purely of physical origin meaning that the presence of life on earth 3800 million years ago remains speculative.
