LIFE AS A GRADUATE
Hong Kong is an exciting city to live in. Located at the western corner of Hong Kong Island in Pokfulam, the University of Hong Kong (or HKU) is surrounded by luxuriant vegetation-covered mountains with quiet and well-maintained trails, but also by the conveniences of modern city life – a wide range restaurants, supermarkets and shops. All graduate students have their own office space that is located in the same building as their supervisor. As part of your graduate program, you will take advanced courses, perform experiments in laboratories at HKU or using overseas facilities depending on the collaborative arrangements of your supervisor. Some of you will also travel to conduct field work in remote and exciting locations. As a HKU graduate student, you are encouraged to attend world-class international conferences to showcase your work and familiarize yourself with the latest discoveries in your field. The university provides funds that can be applied for to cover conference and travel expenses.
