Modelling glacial isostatic adjustment with lateral heterogeneous viscosity

A) Alkenone-derived coastal sea surface temperature from the northern South China Sea

Detailed spatial coastal SST records along the southern China are still not established. Here we constructed a coastal SST record in the northern SCS to better understand the SST change throughout Holocene, as well as the process of East Asia Monsoon system. Meanwhile, the input of Zhujiang River and the rising of the sea-level also influenced the recorded SST compared to other records in the northern SCS.

B) Modelling glacial isostatic adjustment with lateral heterogeneous viscosity

Glacial Isostatic Adjustment is an ongoing response of the Earth to the glacial and deglacial events of the last Ice Age. It can cause vertical and horizontal motion of the Earth surface, gravity change, moments of inertia change, even induce earthquakes and volcanic eruption. We are developing a global high-resolution 3D GIA model with laterally heterogeneous viscosity, which is not considered by other GIA models. The time-dependent ocean function (coast line) also has been incorporated into our model.
