MERCURY ANOMALIES IN MARINE SEDIMENTS DEPOSITED ACROSS THE EDIACARAN - CAMBRIAN BOUNDARY

Extinction of soft-bodied Ediacaran biotas and rapid diversity of early Cambrian skeletal animals have been puzzling issues for decades. From the Hg/TOC stratigraphic patterns in the Mussoorie section, Lesser Himalaya, we tempted to outline a preliminary scenario of the global Hg loading to the environment and provide missing links between the assemblage of Gondwanaland and biological evolution at the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary.
