DEPS ORIENTATION CUM QUARTERLY RPG LUNCH GATHERING (12 SEPT 2025)

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (DEPS) kicked off the 2025-26 academic year with its 1st Quarterly RPG Lunch Gathering on 12 September 2025. Building on the success of the four RPG lunch gatherings held in 2024-25, this event also served as an orientation for new RPg students.
Interim Head Professor Liu Zhonghui warmly welcomed both new and returning students, highlighting the importance of these gatherings in fostering strong connections between students and faculty members. Professor Liu also announced the Department’s official renaming to the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. He extended a special welcome to Chair Professor Nicolas Dauphas and congratulated Professor Li Yiliang and Professor Lee Man Hoi on their recent promotions.
Professor Louis Wong, Associate Head (Research) and Chairperson of the DRPC, greeted the new students and provided useful information about the study programmes. He also introduced key departmental staff members—Crystal Wong, Terence Lam, Diane Chung, and Marine Kam—who will support students throughout their academic journey.
The event was well-attended by RPG students, research staff, and faculty, who enjoyed lively conversations over food and beverages. We look forward to another successful gathering at our next event.
