DR. DARAN ZHENG RECEIVED THE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING RESEARCH POSTGRADUATE STUDENT

The Department of Earth Sciences is delighted to announce that Daran Zheng received the Award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student (2017-2018). Only 10 of these awards are granted per year across the whole university. Daran is an invertebrate paleontologist who conducted his Ph.D. research with Dr. Su-Chin Chang from October 2015 to September 2018. During his Ph.D. study, he learned geochronology and applied U/Pb and Ar/Ar dating to decipher important events in evolutionary history. Impressively, he has published more than 15 papers, including one in Nature Communications and one in Science Advances, as first author.
