Meng is a geophysicist and geochemist who studies the evolution and habitability of terrestrial planets. She earned her Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Yale University, an M.S. in Geochemistry from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a B.S. in Applied Chemistry from Central South University. Motivated by how Earth transitioned from an initially inhospitable world to a habitable planet, Meng develops multidisciplinary theoretical and computational models that couple the history of solid Earth differentiation with the chemical evolution of atmosphere and oceans across geologic time. Her work integrates geodynamics, geochemical cycles, and planetary processes to generate testable predictions for the early Earth and Earth-like worlds. Meng collaborates widely with colleagues in the United States, Singapore, and mainland China, and welcomes new collaborations.
