Using new 3-D global MHD simulations, Dr. Feng studied physical problems of the Jovian and Kronian magnetosphere. Specifically, Dr. Feng focus on responses of the Jovian and Kronian magnetosphere to magnetospheric internal conditions, e.g., the mass loading of the plasma torus. Dr. Feng also resolving the long-debate on some important science questions, such as the driving mechanisms of Jovian auroral emissions, and the problem about Jovian and Kronian magnetospheric responses to solar wind variations, such as solar wind compression.
